Devlopment
This page will be a documentation of all the development my project will go through.
Inspirations
Below you will see the three mood-boards I created for my designs so that I would have a jumping off point and know where to start. I used Pinterest to create a collection of images and then moved into canva to create each individual board in an interesting way. Each design will include a custom made wallpaper, curved moulding on the ceiling which is painted white to brighten up the room, a four way flared light shaft and some honey coloured wood panelling that sits next to the stairs.
For Wayne's design I chose a dark moody colour palette to fit with a more traditional theme and plan on covering the walls completely with the busy wallpaper as they would have done in victorian times.

I would also like to layer this with a gallery wall of ornate gold framed mirrors and family pictures. This design also features some traditional 1880's french victorian lighting.

For Johns design I wanted to create a very light and airy space but I thought it lacked a little whimsey that Waynes design has so I added cherubs to the design.

The colour palette is very simple but the warm tones from the wood and the brass really make it feel cosy and rich. For this design the wallpaper would cover the walls but also have some paneling details layered on top.
For my design I took inspiration from both of their designs but also their existing home. A soft green colour palette with intricate designs and plenty of white from the ceiling to break up the design and some original 1887 wall sconces and chandelier.

The paneling on this design would have the wallpaper inside as a statement and layer of interest

The development
For this project I wanted to try a new technique that I haven't done in my previous projects which is to swap the fun 3D models out for drawn over photos. Since I went on the site visit and wouldn't have been able to measure the space accurately as it is so tall I took plenty of pictures which I can import into procreate and draw over so I can get the proportions correct. The designs you will see below will be images that I have drawn over.

Here I have taken the best view of the space to draw over first. You can see the first step of this process was to add in the ceiling in an off white with a new window box and some curved crown moulding to let as much light into the space as possible.

Above are the beginnings of my three designs all using the same wallpaper. I have changed the ideas around a little and swapped the panelling designs on the cream and green one as I thought it would work better this way.

I think I may make 3 seperate wallpapers for each design as I'm not loving the design too much and I think they each have a bit of a personality which the wallpaper doesn't share.
Reflection
Experience

I took my previously crafted pintrest board and turned it into coresponding mood-boards for each of my design ideas for the space based on what the clients asked for. I also kept in mind my wallpaper design and how it would work for these three spaces. I decided to change up my design process for this project and draw over existing images I took at my site visit so I would get the proportions right for the space as it is very tall.

Refection

I rushed out the designs for these spaces and even still did not get very far on the presentation day. I learned that its actually quite fast and easy to use the existing images for a base for the design as all you need to do is trace over the lines on a new layer as if it is tracing paper to create an easily editable workspace to create designs in. I also learned that the wallpaper didn't work the way I wanted it to in all three designs and I would have to make three individual wallpapers for each design to feel cohesive.

Action

To continue on with the project after the class is over with I will definitely continue my method of drawing over photos although I may add in one or two more perspectives as I have more images I can use. I also want to create multiple wallpapers using the drawings I already created for this current one. Lastly I will take the feedback from the clients once they see my there designs to create one final design for them to hopefully take forward and use for the space.
