Week one we met with the lovely Tina who will be our lecturer for this part of the course. She has a very bohemian vibe to her and I think we will get along well. We spoke brefly about what will be taking place in her unit during the year and that most of the work will be group based. I have never really worked well in a group due to procrastination and motivation issues but I would never let anyone else down so although it worries me some I know that even if I can't get my own work done on time then I'll at least have my work done for them.
Task 1
We broke down what the meaning of community is and then we went around the class and discussed what communites we are a part of. I spoke about the fact that I am a part of the gaming community and that over the past year or so I have really involved myself online with a group made just for girls who game to create a safe space where they can play togther with just other girls. I became very close with a group of them and have exclusivly played in that little circle ever since. They have become my best friends and now we get online and talk almost every night even if we're not gaming and as someone who had had very many breakdowns over the past 6 or 7 years over the fact that I didn't feel like I had any friends it has been life changing. So life changing infact that I even flew for the first time to Paris to go visit on of them and plan on Flying to Poland this year to visit another.
We were tasked to research the definition of a community, watch a couple of videos and find out what other communities we are a part of.
Oxford Languages defines Communities as "a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common."
